Maintaining a Healthy Weight

After a period of weight loss the body is stressed and usually starts to develop some cravings, I am sure you have noticed these.  It is imperative that you refuel your body and give it the nutrients that it requires.  Loosing weight can be very hard on the body especially if you have been eating at a large deficit and stressing the body all the while through exercise.


You must refuel but you must also enter a period of maintenance.  A weight loss tip that I like to use for this is to simply monitor the scale.  Don’t be obsessive about this but keep an eye on your weight.  If you just wrapped up the holiday season and are pretty sure you added a few extra pounds, hop on the scale and survey the damage.  It is usually pretty insignificant compared with the original weight you lost and you have the added experience of loosing that weight in the first place.  It is not hard to drop a couple of pounds in a few days if you have the discipline necessary.


I find the easiest way to accomplish this is to simply write it out on my daily todo list.  Four days of clean eating, it is not hard to commit to and it is only a short period of time.  I can already see the light at the end of the tunnel and I know that I can go out there and hit it hard for a few days.  You have the added benefit of variation, you are in essence starting a diet all over again and your body will respond the same way it did when you approached weight loss for the first time.  It will drop weight quickly and you will be back to your ideal weight before you know it.


Maintenance is not difficult but it does take some thought.  I find it easy to fall off the deep end and indulge mindlessly because I am not in a weigh loss mindset.  This can be dangerous and can easily and quickly put you right back where you started.  Pick and ideal weight and shoot to stay within a couple pounds of that weight.  Control your binge eating and make the necessary lifestyle changes that you require to maintain  your healthy weight.


This is a simple and powerful weight loss tip.  It is easy to loose sight of your goals but if you develop the habit of consistency it can be amazingly easy to maintain your ideal weight and make any changes you wish.
